Darryl Duffer
SERVICE WRITER
Darryl first started at Austin VeeDub back in ’86. His education started with pulling parts in the Recycled Parts department. Back then the Service Department only had three bays! A few years later Darryl started building cars for VeeDub which then quickly led to becoming a full time mechanic in ’90. While performing his mechanic duties Darryl has always assisted the head service writers with taking care of customers. So he always existed as the next in line guy. Darryl became the head service writer in ’06 and has watched the Service Department’s performance climb immensely. Read More
Adam Garcia
SERVICE WRITER / TECHNICIAN
Adam’s career in automotive repair began with his love for air-cooled VW busses. The past several years Adam has climbed the ladder of ASE certifications and upon arriving to VeeDub he claimed he had found his dream job. (Maybe its because on any given day there are probably three or four busses around.) So while Adam gets to dive head first into the air-cooled world he adores, he also has found a role in the Service office. An extensive retail background gives Adam excellent customer service skills, which can sometimes be lacking in the automotive repair business. Read More
Eddie Ruiz
TECHNICIAN
Eddie in one of the newest additions to the Service department. Eddie first started working on Volkswagens in 1970. A small shop in California called “Westfalia” was his first home which he eventually left for an official dealer. Since then Eddie has worked for two other VW dealerships. If we do the math, that’s over 36 years of dealership experience and over 36 years of extensive training and certification. We had to clear out wall space for all his certificates. Eddie traces time by fuel systems and engine type, he says, “First it was air-cooled, with carburetion, then diesels, then fuel injection, then water-cooled … “ Read More
Mike Hall
Mike is a veteran of VeeDub. He’s spent most of his working life at the shop. From air cooled to late model, Mike can be seen building motors, changing oil, maintaining the shop, and tutoring the rookies. He’s extremely generous and sets up the shop every morning (before clocking in). Mike’s favorite pastime is riding his tank of a downhill bike. Armored up for steep single track and tall drop-offs, Mike takes his aggression out on the dirt and boulders, and then uses his deft hands and experience to make sure any car he works on is treated right!
Eduardo Ortiz
E.O., as he is affectionately called here, was basically raised here at the shop. Without speaking a lick of English, Eduardo was put to work pulling parts and inventorying cars in our Recycled Parts department. Soon, his mechanical skills improved, as did his English. Over the years, E.O. evolved into a car builder than a full time service mechanic. He’s the workaholic here! (Along with Edward the owner.) E.O. is here early in the morning and is usually the last to leave.
Vernon McDowell
Has joined the ranks of the Service Dept. after serving over a decade in The Rec. Parts Dept. as head parts puller. So instead of disassembling cars Vernon is evolving into an air-cooled diagnosing and reassembling wizard. Soon Central Texas will be name dropping this guy all over the place. “You know who works on this? Vern at VeeDub!”
John Wasek
… is a genius. (If you don’t know, you better ask somebody.)
